March 5th, 7th, 12th, 14th, 19th, and 20th, 2008: 1. Acting Warm-Ups

2. Run-through of Scenes--Act I Scene III and Act IV Scene I

3. Analyze and work through the relationships: Rosalind-Celia, Rosalind-Duke Frederick, Celia-Duke Frederick. Analyze the thematic concept of The Great Escape and Newfound Hope. Work with Ian Gould, our teaching artist.

Students will engage in acting exercises and a run-through of the lines, which will be performed at the Festival. Practice your lines, using this version: As You Like It. Students will work on Act I Scene III (Celia, Rosalind and Duke Frederick). Students will work on Act IV Scene I (Jaques, Rosalind, Orlando, and Celia). Bring in a 1-page characterizing your character (describe your character's thoughts, feelings, personality traits, actions, interactions with other characters, and other characters' points of view). Also, MEMORIZE your lines. Our performance at the New York Student Shakespeare Festival will be Monday, April 14th!
Wednesday, February 27th 2008: 1. Warm-Ups: Shake out limbs (8 counts, 4 counts, 2 counts, 1 count) and stretching.

2. Run-through of Scenes--Period 6: Act I Scene III and Period 8: Act IV Scene I

3. Tableaus (statues) for the following relationships: Rosalind-Celia, Rosalind-Duke Frederick, Celia-Duke Frederick.

Period 6 students will work on Act I Scene III (Celia, Rosalind and Duke Frederick). Period 8 students will work on Act IV Scene I (Jaques, Rosalind, Orlando, and Celia). Bring in a 1-page characterizing your character (describe your character's thoughts, feelings, personality traits, actions, interactions with other characters, and other characters' points of view). Also, practice your lines. Come back on Wednesday, March 5th and show that you've practiced your lines and learned about your character!
Wednesday, February 6th and Wednesday, February 13th, 2008: 1. Warm-Ups: Shake out limbs (8 counts, 4 counts, 2 counts, 1 count), self-massage, pass a sound and body movement around circle.

2. Tableaus (statues) for the following emotions and situations--anger, lonely, brave, jealous, loyal, two-faced, crazy, in love, drunk, revenge, forgiveness, king/queen, ghost, monster, you forgot your homework, and you just won the lottery. Tableaus will include one person, two persons, and three persons. Use all muscles of your body. Take up as much or as little space as possible. Show Archetype portrayals (pretty princess, greedy elf, opera diva, and valiant knight).

3. Introduce As You Like It Summary and the actual play--As You Like It.

Students will engage in acting exercises and learn about the play which will be performed at the Festival. Read about the play here:As You Like It Summary. Period 6 students will work on Act I Scene III (Celia, Rosalind and Duke Frederick). Period 8 students will work on Act IV Scene I (Jaques, Rosalind, Orlando, and Celia). OVER VACATION: Write 1 full page characterizing your character (describe your character's thoughts, feelings, personality traits, actions, interactions with other characters, and other characters' points of view). Also, practice your lines. Come back on Wednesday, Feb. 27th and show that you've practiced your lines and learned about your character!
